Agecroft Hall & Gardens Engagement Photos with Jessica & Patrick.
Located deep in the heart of central Virginia lies Agecroft Hall & Gardens. A Tudor manor house and estate that was constructed in Richmond in the 1920s. However, portions of the structure date back to the late 15th century. Overlooking the James River, Agecroft Hall & Gardens is now a significant piece of the rich tapestry of Virginia. Today, the manor house and estate serve the community as a wedding venue. As well as an exquisite location for capturing some of life’s most significant milestones; such as engagement photos.
Jessica and Patrick personally selected Agecroft Hall & Gardens as the location for their engagement photos. When I began working with them, we set a goal of creating an engagement photography experience that embodied the feeling of the European countryside. Thus honoring the vision that Jessica and Patrick felt represented the romantic side of their story.
The Proposal
Their love story is a unique tale of modern-day romance; they met on a dating app, with a blend of sentimentality. At the time they met, both Jessica and Patrick were residing in DC. Jessica and Patrick’s first official date took place at Brighton on The Wharf. A place they both often frequented, before agreeing to meet for a date. The night of their fateful first date was filled with Patrick’s tales of flying planes and all of the adventures he had embarked on. Jessica and Patrick spent hours pouring over the details of their life through deep conversations while enjoying Two-Hearted IPAs.
During their time together in DC they enjoyed picnics by the Jefferson Memorial. Knowing they were picking up to start their lives in Richmond, they decided to plan a final toast to the city at their favorite location. However, as luck would have it, the couple ended up back in DC, enjoying their usual dining spots. One fateful night, while walking to dinner they made a quick stop at the Jefferson Memorial just for old times sake. As the sun began to set, it was here that Patrick asked for Jessica’s hand in marriage.
Upon arrival at their dinner reservation, Jessica was surprised to see their closest friends & family members ready to celebrate their engagement. The evening was a splendid celebration of love. It was only at the end of the night, when Jessica and Patrick were alone, that they decided to make one final stop. The night of their engagement was complete with Two-Hearted IPAs, enjoyed in the same location as their first date. Jessica and Patrick’s love is one that is tender and embraces the ‘little things’. They have an admiration for each other that is open to sharing one another’s passions while embracing their values.
Engagement Photos at Agecroft Hall & Gardens
When preparing for their engagement photos at Agecroft Hall & Gardens they selected attire that leaned into the quiet elegance of the location. For Jessica, it was a lovely puff-sleeve white button-down dress. She accented the look with a silk scarf, a brown leather belt, and finely crafted backless loafers. Patrick slipped on what he referred to as “Jess’s favorite blazer” in a look that was casual/professional. On that beautifully sunny day, on the grounds of Agecroft Hall & Gardens, their outfits blended seamlessly with the sweet-smelling grass and the fresh air that floated overhead.
