Today I would like to take the time to introduce a very special person, my husband and second shooter for weddings, Dre Pliodzinskas. I’m sure you are wondering, “How did he get the name Dre?” The quick version is this – His name is Andrius, which is Lithuanian. He worked at a restaurant that asked him to shorten his name to Andre (I know wrong right?) but then his friends eventually started calling him Dre . . . yessss like “Dr. Dre”. I want to share a little story with you. When my husband & I were dating, I was a freelance photographer shooting head shots and such. I had been asked multiple times in the past to shoot weddings and I politely declined out of fear. One day when we were chatting he said to me, “Why haven’t you started a wedding photography business yet?” I told him, because I am so scared . . . scared to mess up on someone’s big day. He said, “I’ll come with you and be your second shooter”. I pondered that for a moment and thought, “If he’s with me then it can’t be that bad.” My husband became my courage and eventually the fears of messing up on a wedding day disappeared. I realized that things happen in life. If I was giving it 100% at a wedding than that was all I could do. I wasn’t going to dwell on the “What If’s”. I’m going on my third season and he has been with me for a majority of all the weddings which as been amazing!
I figured by now you know a little about me (hopefully by now) and so I thought I’d tell you a little about the love of my life – Dre. Dre is 29 and 6 feet tall. He is literally over a foot taller than me. The man LOVES basketball. I’m not kidding when I say the only reason we have cable is for ESPN. He has a man crush on Lebron James and that is the root of our conversations in our house. His name comes up so often in our household that I have dreamt about him. Isn’t that ridiculous? I even tried to contact him to get him to come to our wedding just for Dre (I know what was I thinking?). Dre is originally from Cleveland so you can connect the dots there. Another fun fact about Dre is that he is obsessed with snow and I never really asked him but I’m sure he would live in an igloo. Dre is an electrical engineer (much smarter than me) and went to Virginia Tech. He is an avid reader and a huge sports buff. As far as his personality goes he is a quiet listener. He listens a lot, which is an amazing quality to have. He would say I talk too much! HA! Well, that’s probably true. No shame. He totally balances me out. I’m pretty sure we are polar opposites and kind of like ying and yang but that’s what makes for an interesting marriage right? My favorite thing of all is his love for the Lord. In everything he does, he wants to live for him which is encouraging to me. I hope you enjoyed this little insight on my husband and second shooter. He loves weddings as much as I do and I can’t wait for you to work with him.
