Today I want to get real and remind you to NOT believe the lies whispered in your ear every day & take your thoughts captive. These are something I like to call “Little Liars” who lurk around and torment creative people in this industry on a day to day basis. These “liars” say things like, “You aren’t good enough. You should just quit. She’s better then you. Why haven’t you gotten further in your career?” They don’t just target newbies but even go after the big dogs. How do I know this? Because they have said so. Some of the wedding industries most talented photographers say they STILL struggle with these lies. We tend to believe just one lie, and then it spirals into a downward path where we end up bathing in our tears. Within those tears we begin to believe that “these lies” are our ulitmate identity & make up who we are. We let these lies ruin our day, our confidence, and put a dent in our soul. We need to start taking our thoughts captive. What does that mean to “Take Thoughts Captive”? I feel that once a thought comes into our mind we need to check it with the Lord. For instance, “You are going nowhere“. How acurrate is this thought? Ask yourself this question, “Is this what God believes for my life?” HECK NO.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
We need to bring the thought to the surface, confirm its inadequacy and dismiss it. You have the power to alter your thinking and focus on “whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Philippians 4:8
We ALL deal with these things, you aren’t alone. So believe truth, crush the lies, and grab a friend whos gonna give you some love’n and whip you back into shape. Your talented, awesome, and going places!!
