Little do you know (unless you have lived with me) I have an obsession with hats; hats of all sorts.
The obsession or should I say collection (collection sounds better then obsession) has been going on for years. I have been wearing hats since I was younger. Someone told me that if I wear them a lot I will start balding. That scared the pee out of me so I quit wearing them for a while . . . is that really true??
Anyways, I can’t pass up a good hat at a thrift store. My absolute favorite hats are the vintage, old lady hats. My heart gets tickled pink when I find one of those. Finding a vintage hat at Goodwill is like hitting the jack pot. I kid you not- I go bizerk. I never really wear the old lady hats, I just stare and drool over them. I think it has to do with my love for the past. These old hats are nostalgic. I hold the hat in my hands and secretly invision who put it on, what time period it was in and get a little giddy! You an tell so much from a hat someone wears. My craziest find (which I sadly don’t have a picture of) is a vintage marching band hat from the 60’s at my mom’s house. I found that sucker in LA – – you can only image how I had to CRAM it in my suitcase to zip it up. I once asked a man who owned a vintage store in Radford, VA, “Where do you find all of these AMAZZZZING HATS??” His repsonse, “Dead old ladie’s houses.” My jaw hit the floor. I just try to not think about it when I buy them!
