The season of welcoming a new baby into your family is such a sweet one. It’s also one that’s filled with so much learning and growing. It’s a time that new parents will recall for years to come. In the commotion of sleepless nights, and adjusting to a newborn schedule, it can feel difficult, actually nearly impossible to schedule time for a photoshoot. Which is why I love working with my clients on these moments as an at-home lifestyle newborn session instead of focusing on portraits.
This approach allows me to focus on the dynamic of the whole family, and yes fur babies count! It’s less about posing for the perfect shot and more about capturing you in your natural environment. We focus on your family spending time together in your home, doing the things you would normally do on an everyday basis. And the result is absolutely amazing! Katy and Kevin are a beautiful couple whose personalities balance each other out harmoniously, and together they are one amazing team. Kevin is kind of the jokester, he’s funny, energetic, and always up for a good laugh. Katy is calm, soft-spoken, and determined. As parents, they’ve been soaking up the joy of watching baby Leah grow and seeing her unique personality emerge more and more each day.
I asked them if they had one piece of advice to share with expectant parents, and this is what they had to say!
“I know that everyone says this, but it’s okay to ask for help and advice. Again, we’re all learning and you’re not expected to have all the answers. Be patient with yourself as you learn.”
