Kara & Jeremy’s at-home engagement photos in Richmond VA were intimate, personal, and absolutely adorable! I met the couple at what they call their first home and their forever home to capture this relaxed session, which we approached more like a lifestyle shoot!
My approach to photography has always been about capturing joy. I want to bring out the heart and soul of a couple’s love. So shooting in their home not only allows them to relax in their own space but also to interact with each other the way they normally would on a day-to-day basis. All of those kisses in the kitchen, and snuggles in bed that include your dog, really tell your story in a way that posed portraits do not. For Kara and Jeremy, that meant their dog Bentley was part of the session!
Kara and Jeremy are both outgoing and they absolutely love to make each other laugh! Isn’t that such an important quality in a relationship?! They are high school sweethearts and love to experience everything together side by side. They are going on seven years strong and find that they can still talk to each other for countless hours about anything.
Way back before their engagement, Jeremy asked Kara what she pictured her dream engagement to look like. She simply said, “I don’t know, at the beach or on a hike”. He tucked away that information for a few years until he was ready to pop the question. Then, one November day, Jermey organized the surprise of a lifetime. He took Kara on a hike along the Doyles River Trail in Shenandoah National Park. At the end of their hike, they were met with a beautiful natural flowing waterfall, and that is where he asked for Kara’s hand in marriage. Jeremy also had all of their close friends waiting nearby to celebrate the moment with them! How sweet is that!? Scroll through the photos below, to see even more of their story!
