Sam & Alex were married in a rustic meets chic Bluestone Vineyard Wedding in Bridgewater, VA!
Sam & Alex met in college at JMU. Their relationship and love story is unique because they were best friends for almost four years before they started dating. Sam describes herself as the more organized type-A personality in their relationship. As for Alex, she describes him as a goofball! Alex balances her out and calms her down when she launches into full-on perfectionist mode. And Sam helps Alex stay focused.
When they came across Bluestone Vineyard in their search for a venue, they felt like it was a perfect fit! The Shenandoah Valley and the Harrisonburg area are locations that they both hold very close to their hearts. And Sam was an always avid admirer of vineyard weddings!
Their wedding day at Bluestone Vineyard
To tie into their love story, my bride and groom decided to have their first look at JMU’s campus. They saw each other for the first time as (soon to be) husband and wife, in the very same place where they met. It made their love story come full circle!
Inspired by their venue, Sam & Alex chose a rustic-chic theme for their wedding day decor and florals. Every detail came together to bring this vision to life! From the dutch braid wrapped around Sam’s crown to the radiantly colored florals! A color palette full of different shades of blue was the perfect way to carry out their theme. Sam wore a chic pair of bridal shoes in royal blue. Covered in pearls and rhinestones, the bridal heels were such a statement! The bridal party wore mix-matched silhouette gowns. The gowns were contrasting shades of blue, and perfectly paired! Sam & Alex also created wands with blue ribbons bursting out of the ends for their guests to wave after they were announced! Isn’t that so fun?!
Sam’s favorite part of the day was walking down the aisle towards Alex at the start of their ceremony. That moment for her was filled with such joy anticipation after their 2-year engagement turned into a 3-year engagement. Sam also loved watching Alex dance with his mom at their reception during the mother-son dance. Alex found a recording of himself singing “Brown Eyed Girl” at the age of 3 and added himself playing the drums & guitar as accompaniment in the background to recreate a song he used to sing for his mom as a little boy! How sweet is that?! It was a total shock to his mom who had no idea the groom prepared this special moment just for her!
