THIS CITY….WOW. I love Richmond. When I first moved here my family was skeptical. Lets be real- it use to be the murder capital of our nation at one point but I’m gonna tell you something- IT’S AWESOME!!! Like any place you have to watch your back and be cautious, but I think that Richmond has a bad rep and guess what?? I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LIVING HERE!! There is so much to do, so much to see and a KAZILLION FESTIVALS! Who has the Bacon Festival in their city!?? Come on!?
We have something in Richmond called the Canal Walk which is down in the heart of the city called Shockoe Bottom. There is so much history here! Makes me very proud! Not to mention the James River is stunning!! So the other day some friends, Dre and myself walked the Canal Walk. Being here 3 years I haven’t really done it fully. It was freezing cold, but such a fun experience. It was so awesome to see the old bridges, the art work, and read the little blurbs of history on the old brick walls. Being an artist I especially loved the murals!!! We have some talented people here in Richmond!! So many people overlook the little, hidden gems in their city, but if you take the time to check things out you might be surprised at what you find out and have a greater appreciation for where you live!
