This is the HARDEST. THING. TO. DO… Give yourself grace.
I feel like this is something we struggle with everyday. We mess up and we dwell on it. We count our past failures and keep a tally . In that tally, we consider ourselves a “bad person” because we just can’t seem to “get it right” or because we don’t live a perfect life. Well let me tell you something- the perfect person does not exist.
I don’t have enough fingers to count my failures and this is 100x over; the times I have slipped up and said something disrespectful to my boss ( I cussed out a boss once-no i really did), yelled something hateful to my husband, cut someone off while driving, or judged someone. We are human, and we are going to mess up, and sometimes THEY ARE BIG SCREW UPS; They hurt others, they bring tears, they mess up our whole day and more. If we can’t forgive ourselves and have grace, then what Christ did on the cross was pointless; We are disrespecting HIS SACRIFICE.
A perfect man walked this earth TO UNCONDITIONALLY LOVE; We could mess up a million times in a day and the BIG GUY is just smiling up in Heaven saying, I LOVE YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU ARE. FAILURES AND ALL. YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE MORE OR LESS I LOVE YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE NOW. The beauty of believing in an unconditionally loving God is FORGIVENESS and that is something we need to incorporate into our lives more.
If you are the mom striving to get everything done; Taking your kids to practice, trying to keep up with the house, taking care of the dog and loving your family well-GIVE YOURSELF GRACE. You don’t have to get everything right. For the small business owner who is trying so hard to “make it” the beauty is in the journey NOT THE ENDING. I believe that is how God feels. God loves the race more then He loves the finish line.
Ps- This blogpost is like 4 hours late. I’M GIVING MYSELF GRACE.
