This church wedding was incredible. The wedding was a very small and intimate affair with immediate family and a few close friends. While it wasn’t the original plan that Lauren and Stephen had in mind, the day was perfect and much more focused on love than all of the extras.
Close-knit church wedding
As a whole, the wedding was simple, elegant, intimate and laid- back. Even better, the location was Lauren’s childhood church, St. Mary’s Episcopal Church Goochland. The surrounding outdoors were beautiful and the architecture was astounding. I loved shooting this great couple. As you might see in the photos, Stephen is more quiet and reserved. Lauren is much more outgoing and a total people person.
Their long-awaited first dance
Lauren told me that her best memory of the day was, “The ability to have a first dance with Stephen, a father daughter dance, and a mother son dance. We weren’t sure if this would be possible but our musicians made it happen.” Lauren carried her grandmother’s pocket watch in her dress’s handy pockets to make the day even more special.
She also pointed out that the day was filled with, “reflecting on our long-term relationship and getting excited for our new future. I also can’t stop laughing at almost tripping up the stairs immediately after the wedding. I don’t think anyone saw but Stephen saved me from falling flat on my face and ripping my dress.”
We all need someone like Stephen to catch us when we fall, right?!
Always down for cozy fall weddings
In short, it was an unbeatably cozy fall day and I couldn’t have been luckier in joining Stephen and Lauren as their wedding photographer. If you enjoyed seeing how I captured their wedding, contact me here or check out my Instagram to get another taste of my work.
