A gorgeous wedding at The Boathouse at Sunday Park that beautifully combined the bride and the groom’s cultures.
There was something beautifully delightful about the way the light danced on the water on the day of Ken and Elizabeth’s wedding. Though their ceremony & reception were held indoors, we went for a stroll along the pier at The Boathouse at Sunday Park. Which allowed us to take advantage of the warm sunlight during their fall wedding.
Ken and Elizabeth’s wedding day, unquestionably, pulled inspiration from the season. Pairing lush shades of green and orange together for an overall feeling of warmth. The beauty of their day existed in between the simplicity of the important details. Which involved paired-down decor to allow the focus to remain on the celebration of their love.
The Blending of Cultures
Heavy emphasis was placed on blending together the groom’s Chinese heritage, with the bride’s American roots. It began with an offer offering of oranges. Traditionally, they are given as a gift to the parents of the bride. The oranges are a symbol of gratitude from the groom. It is a way to thank the parents of the bride for raising such a lovely daughter. Additionally, sweet candies bearing the Chinese symbol for double happiness were on display for their guests.
The color red is considered to be auspicious in Chinese culture. The bright red hue is a representation of success, loyalty, honor, and also fertility. But, above all, it represents love. Undoubtedly making the color red a popular choice of attire for many Chinese brides. Elizabeth honored this tradition by changing from her ceremony gown into a beautiful red dress before she and Ken made their entrance into the reception.
Ken and Elizabeth’s wedding reception was held inside the Gardens Pavilion of the Boathouse at Sunday Park. Guests were treated to a brunch-themed meal, during the reception, that was prepared by the in-house culinary team. Altogether, the remainder of the night was spent in the loving company of Ken & Elizabeth’s family and friends while enjoying the beautiful open space of their reception venue.
