Courtney and Colin became husband and wife in an elegant Dover Hall wedding. The devoted couple are college sweethearts, who became engaged in the winter of 2021. When we met for their engagement session, they gave me the exclusive details of their story. From how the moment they originally met to the very second that Courtney said yes to Colin’s proposal.
It’s always a full circle moment for me working with my couples from the excitement of their engagement to hearing them announced as newlyweds. Knowing, that in some way, I’m present to document the tender moments for them, brings me such a humbled sense of joy. My only hope is that they relive each and every moment through their wedding photos, over the years to come.
A Dover Hall Wedding is an Elegant Affair
An English Tudor-inspired wedding venue located in the hills of Manakin-Sabot, Virginia, Dover Hall is a grand estate nestled among 55 private acres. The grand estate is located among the county’s equestrian county, which envelops a sense of tranquility, from the moment you arrive. Above all, Dover Hall harkens to a time when lovers walked side by side in the exquisite gardens of the English countryside.Courtney & Colin’s wedding ceremony took place in the grandiose ballroom. A space complete with a stone-carved fireplace, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a stairway with open archways. It was here that Courtney made her grand entrance, ascending the carpeted stone stairs lined with luxuriously lush florals. Behind her, the bride’s cathedral-length veil and floral embroidered ballgown gently swept along the stairs.
The Details
In front of the opulent stone-carved fireplace, Courtney & Colin’s faithful hearts were joined in marriage. The light sounds of live-string music filled the air. The selection of songs was crafted to perfection. Thus creating a soundtrack to Courtney & Colin’s love story.
The bride’s mother was present on her wedding day. However, Courtney wanted to honor her mother in a unique way. She carried her mother’s bridal portrait with her to Dover Hall. While fully dressed in her captivating ballgown, Courtney held her mother’s framed bridal portrait close to her heart. It’s an extraordinary portrait that I was honored to capture.
Lastly, during Courtney & Colin’s reception, the bride’s three brothers performed a surprise choreographed dance for the couple.
