Lauren and Tommy’s summer wedding took place at Hollyfield Manor. A gorgeous wedding venue located in Manquin, VA that combines a sprawling stretch of farmland with a classic estate house featuring a ballroom, and a lush waterfront lawn.
I first had the opportunity to work with Lauren and Tommy during their engagement session at Byrd Park. During that time, they told me they were college sweethearts who met while attending Virginia Tech. And I personally believe their paths were fated to cross. After (unknowingly) sharing a class together, the couple didn’t officially meet until they were interning. From there, they embarked on a long-term relationship, enjoying each others company, experiencing life side by side, buying their first home, and making the absolute most of every moment. One unexpected weekend, Tommy enlisted the help of Lauren’s sister to plan a surprise proposal.
As they began weaving together the details of their wedding, the couple chose Hollyfield Manor to host their lush summer wedding. An exquisite southern farm draped in elegance and wrapped in charm, I knew their wedding day was bound to create a picturesque scene of their sacred vows. Bringing them together as husband and wife for the rest of their days in this magnificent farmland.
The Details
Lauren and Tommy are two warm inviting souls whose relationship began with a true friendship. Lauren confided in me that the most memorable moment of her wedding day was the first look they shared. The build-up of anticipation on their wedding day coupled with the ability to share a private moment together brought them inner peace before the formalities of their day began. Additionally, they were able to share private vows during this time. Sharing those privately spoken words with each other before their official ceremony rooted Lauren and Tommy in the purpose of their day, the foundation of their marriage.
Prior to Lauren’s first look and personal vows with Tommy, her bridesmaids also participated in honoring Lauren’s wish to begin her day with a centered approach. Each of her bridesmaids crafted a handwritten letter for Lauren to read while she was getting her hair and makeup done. A beautifully eloquent touch for such a deeply personal experience.
Though there was no set theme to their wedding at Hollyfield Manor, Lauren and Tommy focused on their planning efforts to create a romantic, easy-going, joyful experience for their wedding day. What I loved about their summer wedding at Hollyfield Manor was the enveloped feeling of effortless style. Lush, bountiful florals, shades of cool blues, and crisp white linens accented by softly lit candles. The feeling in the air that day was as light as a summer breeze, yet immersed with a sense of Americana from the venue’s over 300-year-old history. It’s a feeling that can only be eloquently expressed when stepping into an expansive property, such as Hollyfield Manor. And one that was planned so intentionally by Lauren and Tommy.
A summertime wedding at Hollyfield Manor
Planning a wedding at Hollyfield Manor comes with the added amenity of their in-house catering service, referred to as “Traditions”. Traditions aims to serve its couples and their guests southern-style cuisine, but in an elevated way that puts hospitality and the experience of your wedding day at the forefront of all they do.
While the premier service of a wedding at Hollyfield Manor is a lush meets effortless affair, the aspect of your wedding day that is unshakeable is the venue’s backdrop. The manor house, built in the mid-18-th century maintains its original elegance. The grace and charm of the estate house set the stage for unforgettable wedding day portraits. The grand pillars and stone stairway create an inviting welcome. Furthermore, the towering holly trees and magnolias invite you to stay, just for a while, as they shade the grounds. A joyful, organic, experience that plays with light and shadows for timeless wedding day photos.
