Whether you are dreaming of starting a business (yes I mean it, not even started one), just starting out as a small business owner, or been in the business for seven years you need to do one thing – – Give yourself more credit. I know what you are thinking, “If only was like _____” or “I wish I was as far along as ______ in their business”, blah blah, blah. Its time to cut that crap out and start loving yourself. Pull yourself out of that slump, step outside into the sunshine and give yourself a hug (if thats possible). I don’t know you but I do know if you are reading this post you are struggling with these thoughts. Everyone has a different life path and some are farther a long then others but seriously- quit comparing (I’m preaching to the choir, don’t worry). What is your definition of success? I have been pondering this thought for a long time… two years actually. At one point I thought that If I reached a certain level in my photography business I was solid. No. Success is being better then the day before. If you are an ounce better then yesterday then you better pop the champagne and start celebrating. – – YOU. ARE. GROWING. That is all that matters. You need to wake up, pat yourself on the back and be proud. Small business fail within the first year, if you have made it past that then WOO HOO!!!! I know some of your are just starting out, and it takes A TON of courage to bring your dream to life. Marching your tooshie down and registering your new business IS success!!! Another WOO HOO! Remember where you were a year ago, a month ago, a DAY ago and take a look at your life this second. Success is not a final, but a working progress. If you are putting your passion into play you are experiencing success. Don’t be your worst enemy, be your best cheerleader and love how far you’ve come.
