This glowy winter maternity session at Bandy Field Park was a beautiful moment to pause for soon-to-be first-time parents, Kim and Paul. They are both dear friends of mine and shooting these photos for them filled me with so much joy for their upcoming journey of parenthood to their sweet miracle baby.
When we arrived for this maternity session at Bandy Field Park (a gorgeous open space near my home), the evening was just beginning to settle. The sun was starting to set and it was that beautiful hour of the day when everything begins to slow down. Although it was winter, there was a sort of warmth wrapped around the trees and foliage. It looked like the evening sun was blanketing the trees, which created a beautiful glow. Mother nature came out to play for just a moment, permeating the harsh winter we previously experienced.
Kim, in particular, was looking for a location that would provide a relaxed environment for her session. But also a location that would produce whimsical photos with a sort of boho ambiance to them. Bandy Field Park turned out to be the perfect location for her maternity photos and checked the box on all the requirements.
On the day we met there was just enough warmth to quell the chill weaving itself through the air. The perfect amount to keep Kim and Paul warm, so they could focus on being present in the moment.
Advice From the Soon To Be Parents
Kim and Paul are both unique souls. Paul is very much free-spirited. He is light-hearted, but also a little bit of a fun-loving rebel. Kim is someone who thrives on the deep end of life. She is always open and curious about new adventures and allows herself to take it all in, every step of the way. I asked them both what advice they would give to new parents after having been on this journey together, here’s what they had to say.
“Allow yourself to feel all your feelings without judging yourself. the hard stuff isn’t talked about or “advertised” but is so, so normal-nothing is wrong with you!”
