Mo & Michael’s rustic-inspired Richmond VA Wedding was every bit intentional and full of so much joy! When the wedding reception ends with everyone standing around in a circle with their arms linked, singing along to “Piano Man”, you know the wedding was epic!
Mo & Michael are self-described polar opposites! Funny how opposites attract isn’t it?! Michael takes a grounded and measured approach to all that he does. He is completely logical and loves a good spreadsheet! Mo on the other hand is a bit more of a free spirit. She flies by the seat of her pants, lives by impulse and her heart is her guide. It works for them in a way because Mo pulls Michael out of his comfort zone. And Michael keeps Mo from wandering too far from home!
My bride and groom were one of many couples whose wedding plans were derailed during the pandemic. Sadly, the venue they had originally planned their day with shut its doors. So they were on the hunt for a venue that could accommodate them and fit the vision they had for their wedding. As luck would have it, Mo & Michael are part owners of a small farm in Shenandoah County. One of their neighbors graciously offered up the use of their property to play host to Mo & Michael’s wedding. This property? Six sprawling across the river, overlooking the ridge of the national forest! Pretty dreamy right?!
When it came to their decor, it was a team effort! Mo’s step-mom, Mo’s Uncle, and Michael’s dad all walked through the property a few days before the event so that they could scout the best plants and flowers to use for their wedding. Mo’s step-mom (who is a florist) put together the couple’s wedding day decorations with plants from the grounds! Those details, crafted with so much love and care from the people in their lives, brought an overall feeling of connection to their day.
But, it was their ceremony that Mo & Michael enjoyed the most. Being able to stand before each other and speak those beautiful promises is what they had been waiting for when their wedding was postponed. The best part? The two self-professed “polar opposites” had written each other vows that were nearly identical! They laughed, they cried, and they cry-laughed, and then they were pronounced husband and wife.
