Kimberly and Derek’s engagement session at the Vineyard Estates at New Kent Winery was nothing short of extraordinary. Their love for each other is so evident and real. They are so natural with each other, and it truly shows on camera. I always love hearing my clients’ stories on how they met, and I think Kimberly and Derek’s takes the cake.
The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year
It was a cold day in December. Kimberly was out celebrating her birthday, and Derek was dressed as Santa Claus gallivanting on the Christmas Tacky Light Tour. They both ended up at the Vintage Room with their friends. They locked eyes from across the room. “When we made eye contact, he blinked twice almost as if he couldn’t believe that I was real, and then suddenly, he began to fall backwards. I ran over to make sure he was okay but also because I wanted to find out who he was, as I was sure he definitely was not the real Santa Claus,” Kimberly exclaimed. They instantly connected and ended up talking the rest of the night. Before the night was over, Kimberly asked for Derek’s number and just a few days later they went on their first official date.
A Slippery Surprise
Exactly two years later, Derek was ready to pop the question. They went ice skating in Short Pump for Kimberly’s birthday and their second year anniversary. Derek asked Kimberly if she wanted to see him do a cool trick. He sped off in front of her, and as he was about to do his “trick,” he slipped and fell. As he began to get himself off the ice, he was down on one knee, pulled out a ring and asked for her hand in marriage. Kimberly was overwhelmed with joy, and of course, said yes!
The Path to Marriage
The Estates at New Kent Winery was the perfect backdrop for Derek and Kimberly’s engagement session. It’s not only breathtakingly beautiful, but it’s also the very same place they will become husband in wife. Kimberly and Derek will be getting married at New Kent Winery this coming fall. It was the perfect start to begin their journey towards becoming Mr. and Mrs!
