Julia and Brad are celebrating their engagement with photos at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. The couple met at driving academy back when they were just fifteen years old. But it wasn’t exactly love at first sight. In fact, it took them quite some time to warm up to each other. But after an exchange of Snapchat handles, they planned their very first date.
Seven beautiful years together went by and the couple decided they would recreate their first date, going back to the restaurant where it all began, even sitting at the exact same table. Growing together over the years and deeply in love as they ever had been, Brad began planning a proposal. Knowing Julia’s love for the rain, Brad originally planned to propose to her under a pavilion during a thundershower. However, fearing a recent rash of lightning strikes with park pavilions, Brad quickly changed his plan.
A Proposal at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts
Julia and Brad had a tradition of going out together for a splendid dinner, before parting ways and heading back to their respective schools. After picking up Julia for their long-standing date night tradition, Brad headed to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts to spend some time walking around together before their dinner reservation. When they arrived, they were surprised by a jazz band playing an extensive repertoire of love songs. The couple continued their walk around the museum, heading in the direction of one of Julia’s favorite artworks. It was here, where Brad asked for her hand in marriage. Located in a tiny corner of the museum, the location provided them with privacy and an unforgettable moment that is now a profound part of their love story.
Richmond Engagement Photos
After hearing their story and knowing how meaningful the Virginia Museum of Fine Art is to Julia and Brad, I suggested we meet there for their Richmond engagement photos. In addition to their proposal, Julia and Brad often spent time at the museum walking around or enjoying an impromptu date together. When the warmer months arrive, they would typically bring lunch to the gardens at the museum and enjoy the atmosphere.
My overall approach to capturing their Richmond engagement photos at the Virgina Musume of Fine Arts was to recreate the feeling that Julia and Brad experience when they enjoy the grounds during a date. The weather was on our side that day, with the glow of the sun adding a layer of warmth to their engagement photos. We spent our time together exploring the grounds, stopping along the way to capture moments by some of the distinguished architecture.
