Katy and Kevin are celebrating two years of marriage with a Richmond Anniversary Photo Session!
The couple are both native Richmonders where they attended the same middle school and high school. They started dating shortly after high school graduation and they have been rock solid ever since! Katy said that they balance each other very well. Katy is more on the quiet reserved side, and Kevin is outgoing.
Kevin proposed to Katy at the lake house owned by his family. Katy described the lake house as their “happy place.” Kevin popped the question on the porch of the lake house overlooking the lake.
Katy and Kevin’s wedding day was in the spring of 2019. They said I do at The Market at Grelen which is a 600-acre plant and tree nursery! Their ceremony was held inside a greenhouse located on the property. They became husband and wife among heaps of blooming flowers with a gorgeous scenic mountain view as their backdrop!! Their closest friends and family were in attendance that day to celebrate their love.
You’ve probably picked up on it by now, but Katy and Kevin definitely thrive in nature! So when it came to their Richmond Anniversary Session we had to capture the same vibe. The original plan was to head over to Maymont for their session but we switched it up at the last minute and found a woodsy intimate park in Carillon! The change of location allowed their session to go smoothly and also to give them the freedom to bring their dog along to the shoot! If you know anything about me, it’s that I will take any opportunity to have your dog included in your photoshoot! How could I not go with the location that was perfect to capture their family of 3?! The whole session was peaceful and Katy and Kevin had such an ease about them in the outdoor setting. Major bonus points to their pup who was such a good boy for the camera!
Katy and Kevin have been together for over 11 years, so I just had to ask them:
Do you have any marriage advice for newlyweds?
“Remember that you are a team – there is never a winner or a loser. You both want the best for each other.”
“Laughter is good for the soul, so remember to find humor in every situation!”
