Arriving at The Estate at River Run is an experience all its own. Originally constructed in the 1980s, the wedding venue features Georgian-inspired architecture. When you first pull up to the venue, you will be greeted by boxwood hedges and a brick pathway that leads to the front door of the mansion. The entire estate features a brick facade, providing an air of nobility and grandeur to wow your guests.
Behind the property, you will find two arched stairways that lead to the Bluestone Terrace and the Brick Terrace. Each of these areas features beautiful stone fountains and overlooks the James River in the distance. In the home, you’ll find a marble foyer and ballrooms with ornate chandeliers. Estate At River Run Wedding Spaces
The Estate at River Run is an exclusive-use wedding venue. This means you and your guests will have unbound access to the venue on the day of your wedding. Unlike other venues, you needn’t worry about other weddings or events happening at the same time as yours. Providing you with the privacy needed to enjoy an immersive wedding day experience at every turn. Below are further details on the spaces made available to you during your Estate at River Run wedding. Including spaces to choose from for your ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception.
Getting Ready Suites
The Estate at River Run offers several getting-ready suites for the morning of your wedding. In total, you will be provided access to the primary suite, two additional bedrooms, a private apartment space, the pool house, and the Woodhaven billiard room. Each of these rooms is designed to allow you, your fiancé, your wedding party, and your hair and makeup team plenty of space to relax and dress for the day while enjoying a stress-free experience.
Additionally, each of the getting-ready suites at The Estate at River Run is designed flawlessly with modern elements that embody an old-world aesthetic. I highly recommend booking a wedding photography package that will allow your photographer to capture each moment of the getting-ready process on the morning of your wedding. This will allow time for capturing you with the members of your wedding party, as well as those finishing touches by your hair and makeup team.
Ceremony Spaces
The Estate at River Run also has numerous spaces to host your wedding ceremony. You can host a bright and vibrant wedding ceremony outdoors or a cozy and intimate wedding ceremony indoors. The Richmond wedding venue offers the following spaces for your wedding ceremony.
For an outdoor wedding with riverside views, you can select either the Bluestone Terrace or the Brick Terrace for your ceremony. If you desire a space that is grand in nature and allows room for all of your guests as well as floral installations, the front lawn of the venue provides a lavish air of sophistication. Finally, for an outdoor Estate at River Run wedding ceremony, you may also select the Oak Grove Arbor.
If you wish to host your wedding during the winter months, or you’d simply like a reprieve from the elements, The Estate at River Run recommends its Wedgwood Ballroom. This space is bedecked in hardwood floors and features floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing streams of beautiful, golden natural light to flood your wedding ceremony as you become joined in marriage. 
Cocktail Hour
The lavish experience that the Estate at River Run provides allows you to select a dedicated space to host your cocktail hour. Once your ceremony is complete, guests will be looking forward to mixing and mingling with signature cocktails and an assortment of hors d’oeuvres as you embark on capturing your Estate at River Run Photos. There are three distinct spaces to host your cocktail hour.
The first is on the main floor of the estate house. Here, ornate architecture blends with modernity to serve guests’ libations as they are ready to celebrate by your side at your reception. The second location to host your cocktail hour at The Estate at River Run is outdoors on one of the terraces. Each of the terraces possesses awe-inspiring river views, allowing guests to relax and take in the sights of your astonishing wedding venue. Finally, the last location to host your cocktail hour at the venue is poolside. The expansive round pool on the estate grounds offers vibrant hues reflected from the water’s surface in a setting that is elegant and luxurious.
Reception
For indoor wedding receptions, The Estate at River Run has the following spaces: the Wedgwood Ballroom, Tuscan Ballroom, Cameo Ballroom, Brick Terrace, or The Bluestone Terrace. By far, the most expansive space is the Wedgwood Ballroom, which can accommodate up to 300 seated guests for a night of dinner and dancing. However, if your guest list totals less than 270 and you would like an indoor reception experience, it is highly recommended that you select the Tuscan Ballroom. Conversely, the Cameo Ballroom is also an indoor space, but this is ideally suited for guests with an intimate-sized guest list of less than 100 attendees.
If you plan on hosting an outdoor wedding reception, you can select the Brick Terrace or the Bluestone Terrace. Lastly, depending on the total size of your guest list, you may opt to tent the lawn for an evening of dining outdoors and dancing under the stars.
Total Capacity
River Run is equipped to host a wedding with a large number of guests in attendance. In total, the venue can accommodate anywhere from 250 – 300 guests. However, you will need to work closely with the venue as well as your wedding planner to carefully select the spaces to host each of your events. This will allow you and your guests to move throughout the venue seamlessly, enjoying a captivating experience that embodies the splendid atmosphere of the venue.
