Richmond, VA is full of timeless wedding venues backed by historic charm, such as The Jefferson Hotel. Featuring grand architecture, storied character, and a dash of old-world elegance, this iconic wedding venue is an idyllic setting for a wedding draped in sophistication. Capturing Jenna and Jay’s Jefferson Hotel wedding at this exquisite venue was a testament to the romance the venue exudes and how seamlessly the enchantment of the venue works to host modern love stories.

This Jefferson Hotel Wedding was an Intimate Celebration
Jenna and Jay’s love story began with an introduction made by the now-couple’s mutual friends. They hit it off almost instantly, and quickly realized how much they shared, including a love for the great outdoors. Over the years, they’ve built a connection fostered by trust, laced with laughter and countless adventures. Naturally, when it was time to plan their wedding day, they wanted the day to feel personal and meaningful to them. It would be a day focused on the continued connections, shared with those they love the most, in a setting shaped by Richmond’s notable history.
Having chosen a Jefferson Hotel wedding reception, Jenna and Jay searched for a location to exchange their vows that felt like the true embodiment of the love they share. They chose the dockside views provided by 3 Lakes. A tranquil setting by the water where guests could gather in the serenity of nature, rooted in meaning. Drawing on their love of the outdoors, their chosen wedding ceremony location also held deep importance to the couple. It was the same location where Jay’s sister had also been married, just a few years prior.
That bright, sunny, summer afternoon, Jenna and Jay, joined by their friends and family, walked through the woodlands surrounding 3 Lakes to arrive at their ceremony. At a quaint wooden dock overlooking the still waters, they vowed to love one another for all of their days. The intimate ceremony, filled with laughter, was the epitome of the very bond that Jenna and Jay share. Quiet, intentional, and enduring.

Old World Atmosphere at The Jefferson Hotel
Immediately following their lakeside wedding ceremony, Jenna and Jay led their guests to a private wedding reception at The Jefferson Hotel. One of Richmond’s most treasured, historic wedding venues, The Jefferson Hotel dates back to 1895 and now resides on the National Registrar of Historic Places.
On site, you’ll find the hotel’s Lemaire restaurant. The aptly named dining space is called so after Etienne Lemaire, who served as maitre d’hotel to Thomas Jefferson throughout his presidency. The interior of Jefferson Hotel is transportive, with historic architecture that lends itself to an old-world atmosphere, shaping the tone of every event held in its walls.
For Jenna and Jay, the old-world sensibility is what drew them to the venue. The idea of sharing a piece of Richmond’s history with their family on their wedding day gave their event the final component that felt authentic to them.

Moments Shaped by Connection
Jenna and Jay’s reception experience could be described as a wedding dinner party. A slowed-down version of a celebration that was built for connections, centered on a memorable dining experience.
Forging wedding day trends, the approach to planning their Jefferson Hotel wedding was a direct reflection of the bond they share with their immediate family.
An experience that could be savored over the course of a long evening. No rushed timeline, just a relaxed, self-paced evening that felt as if time stood still, for just a moment, allowing memories to unfold, preserved carefully through a photography experience that honored Jenna and Jay’s story.
