One of my favorite views in Richmond is Libby Hill Park that overlooks the city. It’s a picturesque view of the urban skyline that I call home. Needless to say, I was ecstatic when Hailey and Alex choose this exact park for their engagement session. Churchill is where they first lived when moving to Richmond two years ago. In fact, it’s where they spent a lot of time getting to know their new city.
Finding Love at a Children’s Hospital
Even though they call Richmond home now, they first crossed paths while working at a Children’s Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Alex was in his third year of residency during pediatric rotations, and Hailey was living in Atlanta while working at the hospital. Hailey was instantly attracted to Alex’s charisma and the steadfast way he tried getting to know her. Alex, on the other hand, admired Hailey’s independence. She’s always been driven and constantly busy, which is a trait Alex has appreciated throughout the years.
Better Together
While attraction is an important part of any relationship, the way your significant other makes you a better person, is an even more integral part of a marriage. According to Hailey, Alex makes her better person because of his unconditional support. He listens to her and keeps her grounded. Hailey helps to keep Alex balanced. She encourages and supports him to work hard, but also makes sure he takes time for other important things in life, as well.
Popping The Question
Churchill isn’t just where their new life started together in Richmond, but it’s also where Alex decided to ask Hailey his hand in marriage. On a Saturday late in July, they couldn’t agree on plans until Alex suggested they head down to explore Patrick Henry’s church, St. John Church, in Churchill. His suggestion was nothing out of the ordinary because of his affinity for history. Therefore, at the time, Hailey didn’t think twice about it. They toured St. John and walked around the grounds afterwards. Once they made their way to the front, Alex asked the tour guide to take their picture. As the tour guide began to take their picture, he dropped down on one knee and proposed. She said yes, of course!
The Future
It’s been 5 years since Hailey and Alex started dating. This year, they will begin their next chapter as husband and wife where they will wed at a beautiful cathedral here in the heart of Richmond. They are most looking forward to starting a life together that is their own. Most importantly, they are beyond thrilled to make a home, start a family, and begin new traditions. I’m super excited to see these two lovebirds tie the knot right in September!!
