Meet the Couple!
Emily and Matt are both easygoing and enjoy being active, especially with their dog Penny. They both deeply value friendships and have close friends they have known most of their lives. The two began dating after meeting at a book club in Richmond only to discover later that they were next door neighbors! And then they each went to separate schools to pursue MBAs while dating long-distance for 3 years. Now, they are together in Richmond again and couldn’t be happier. Their love story is the cutest!
A Walkable Wedding with City Sights
Since neither of them is originally from Richmond, many of the family members and friends were visiting from out of town. As a result, the couple wanted all of the guests to be able to enjoy both the city and the wedding. They chose the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church as the ceremony location and the VMFA for the reception as they were within walking distance of each other. This way, the attendants had the opportunity to take in the city and have more time to enjoy the reception party. Emily described their wedding day as “relaxed, welcoming” and “traditional.
What Made the Wedding Special
“When we arrived at the reception we got to have time for just the two of us in the private upstairs wing overlooking the Marble Hall. We got to have that time with just the two of us to take a deep breath after the ceremony and also soak up a view of our reception and all our friends and family,” Emily said of her favorite memory from her VMFA wedding.
Incomparable details with every bit of elegance
Their wedding day was just breathtaking. And might I just say, I was gushing over the gold etching of their pup on the napkins! I can’t help but adore all of the dogs, wedding or not, and this couple was the same way.
The Dress
I’ll be honest. I loved photographing Emily’s dress. The sweetheart neckline and one-of-kind lace details were just stunning.
Botanical Pink Wedding Bouquet
Emily’s bouquet was crafted with the ideal mix of pink, creamy white and forest green. It matched her personality perfectly — elegant and sweet yet down to earth!
Tradition & Whimsy
Their VMFA wedding was every bit of tradition and whimsy that a bride could ask for. Do you see those organ pipes?
A VMFA Wedding With Poise
This wedding had all of the poise and pretty details. It was such an honor to work with Emily and Matt! Thank you both!
